Turn of the Key is an amazing domestic thriller. An awesome book that spun a lot of smaller suspenses and tied them all together neatly at the end .
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5
Rowan Caine is the protagonist & she is in prison for the murder of a child. Rowan took up the job of a nanny at the Ellincourt’s house in the Scottish Highlands . The generous pay , high tech smart house and added incentives , all seemed too good to be true . Rowan realizes it WAS too good , when mysterious things happen to her. Her belongings go missing, she hears sounds in the night and the hi-fi house seems to have a mind of its own. To top it off, the children are real brats ! The Ellincourt’s leave on a trip as soon as Rowan starts her job & she is left to care for the kids. All the madness ends in the death of one of the kids & Rowan is held responsible for it. She however claims to be innocent . . I cannot express enough how smart the storyline is . Ruthware has gone all out and made this narrative an excellent one. The end of the book was too good. It is the kind of book that doesn’t hand the reader all the answers on a platter . After the end of the book, you have to do the brainwork, to piece all the elements together and form the full picture. It’s the kind of book that doesn’t treat readers as dumb. If you love thrillers, this is definitely worth your time.
