If that doesn’t make you pick up this book, I don’t know what will! The best news is this book has sequels too!! *squealing*

SYNOPSIS (from Goodreads)->

The first rule of book club: You don’t talk about book club.

Nashville Legends second baseman Gavin Scott’s marriage is in major league trouble. He’s recently discovered a humiliating secret: his wife Thea has always faked the Big O. When he loses his cool at the revelation, it’s the final straw on their already strained relationship. Thea asks for a divorce, and Gavin realizes he’s let his pride and fear get the better of him.

Welcome to the Bromance Book Club.

Distraught and desperate, Gavin finds help from an unlikely source: a secret romance book club made up of Nashville’s top alpha men. With the help of their current read, a steamy Regency titled Courting the Countess, the guys coach Gavin on saving his marriage. But it’ll take a lot more than flowery words and grand gestures for this hapless Romeo to find his inner hero and win back the trust of his wife.

REVIEW->

The Plot ->

Falling back in love with the same person is a trope I recently discovered and absolutely love. People change over the years and a lasting relationship needs the couple to fall in love over and over again with every new person their partner becomes. The plot is about rekindling love and passion between Gavin and Thea. And along the way the face their insecurities too. With a stuttering hero (an underrepresented character), a Guys’ book club and Guys who read romance –it’s a perfect perfect world that Lisa has created.

The Characters->

Gavin is the star of the book, we see his emotions and thoughts in much more depth than Thea’s. And so, the narration feels a little biased here.

Gavin grows from assuming what Thea means,  to asking her what she wants, what she means and encouraging communication between them. Their constant steamy provocations and cute bickering will put a smile the reader. The book does not stop at saying Gavin needs to grow, Thea is on the spot to learn too. Both of them put in efforts to make the marriage work – so don’t bin it as a book with the woman being mistreated. She needed to change for their marriage too. And so the character developments are wonderfully balanced.

Audiobook Narration->

The audiobook is narrated by guys playing the roles of Gavin and Thea. This was a little confusing because I couldn’t tell where Gavin and Thea’s narratives switched. The narration could have been greatly improved by having a female narrator for Thea’s parts.

The Writing ->

The book made me laugh so much so many times. The Guys club chats and Gavin’s comebacks are humorously scripted. Gavin is seeking inspiration from an old British romance novel and the voice of the ‘Lord’ is influencing Gavin’s thoughts. This was a truly delightful and hilarious addition. The steamy parts are written perfectly to let the reader enjoy and fall in love with the couple too.

About The Author

From Goodreads –

Lyssa Kay Adams is the pen name of an award-winning journalist who gave up the world of telling true stories to pen emotional romances. She’s also a diehard Detroit Tigers fan who will occasionally cheer for the Red Sox because her husband is from Boston.Lyssa lives in Michigan with her family and an anxiety-ridden Maltese who steals food and buries it around the house and who will undoubtedly be a character in a future book. Things Lyssa loves: Baseball pants, mashed potatoes, and that little clicking sound that scissors make on the cutting table at fabric stores.
Things she doesn’t love: Mean people, melting ice cream cones, and finding food in her underwear drawer.
