Harlan Coben has been my favorite Author for a few years now. His novels are gripping , fast moving & easy to read. Run Away is his latest book published in 2019 & I enjoyed reading this book late into the night. . “Part of the human condition is that all decent people think they are phonies & don’t belong at some point or another” . Simon Greene’s Daughter is on the run. He lost her to drugs and an abusive boyfriend and has been looking for her ever since. He finds her in a disheveled and desperate state , but when he tries to reach out to her , she runs again. This time Simon follows her, determined to bring her home & gets pulled into a world of criminal gangs , conspiracies & cults. This journey could cost him more than his Daughter. . This book had the makings of a traditional thriller, with several action packed scenes & chases. Harlan Coben’s work is always excellent in paying attention to the details & this book did not disappoint either. There are several unsolved loose threads opened up in the narrative , only to be tied up neatly together at the end. For me, the book was emotional too. The story is heavily set around Simon’s family & makes him question his relationship with his wife & kids at several instances. Nothing about this book is predictable & that is why I loved it.
