I read The Boyfriend Project last week & had a blast with it. An Own voices RomCom that is both fun and eye-opening.

SYNOPSIS->
A live tweet of a horrific date revealed a painful truth: Samiah’s been catfished by a three-timing jerk of a boyfriend. Having gone viral, Samiah-along with his two other “girlfriends,” London and Taylor-are making a pact to spend the next six months investing in themselves. No men and no dating. For once Samiah is putting herself first, & that includes finally developing the app she’s always dreamed of creating. Which is the exact moment she meets the deliciously sexy Daniel Collins at work. But is Daniel really boyfriend material or is he maybe just a little too good to be true?

REVIEW->
In my opinion, this book has all the things a Female MC should portray – ambition, strong female friendships & a hunger to rise above her circumstances. I loved the representation & importance given to it. Samiah does not have it easy- being a black woman in tech- but She is determined to beat all odds. I found her very inspiring & quickly liked & respected her character. All the character ARCs panned out very well & I love the plot and the delicate but firm writing style.
.
I want to say I am impressed by how it has a little bit of everything, but it was a little overwhelming, with too many things going on. Without giving out any spoilers – I did feel that despite being strong-willed, all the characters did exactly what they said they wouldn’t. But I guess without that, there would never be a good RomCom!
.
I totally recommend this book for all the great elements it embodies and stands for! Definitely a Farrah Rochon fan now!
