⭐️Reflective,Riotous, Redefining⭐️

The Matchmakers List by Sonya Lalli is a story of an Indian-Canadian girl torn between satisfying her grandma’s traditional wishes & her own aspirations. I found this cross-cultural narrative very relatable and entertaining.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5

SYNOPSIS->
Raina Anand may have finally given in to family pressure & agreed to let her grandmother play matchmaker, but that doesn’t mean she has to like it–or that she has to play by the rules.As Raina’s life spirals into a parade of Nani-approved bachelors and disastrous blind dates, she must find a way out of this modern-day arranged-marriage trap without shattering her beloved grandmother’s dreams

REVIEW->
The slow & steady character development compliments the fun,evolving story line perfectly. This is a plot that is both entertaining and calls for some introspection. I couldn’t help but wonder what I would have done in Raina’s shoes. That I could visualize the character enough to imagine that, has me admiring Sonya’s witing skill.

Raina’s inner struggles & her journey to helping herself & also others accept her is one worth investing in. I liked the dialogues & flowery prose and the book has do very light air to it.

Adding some quotes from the book that struck a chord with me ->
“I see so many kids raised to feel shame about who they are, what they want, who they love.”

“ This girl I dated-she was under so much pressure to do the right thing, she didn’t even know what it felt like to make a mistake”
