The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini is an emotionally rich and heart breaking fiction set in Afghanistan. A remarkably well delivered book.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 . “Problem with people who mean everything they say, they think others do too.” . The story is about two friends Amir and Hassan who grew up in the same household. Hassan is the kid of the house help and Amir’s father is a wealthy businessman. The story traces their childhood relationship and the small fights and jealousies . The plot talks a drastic turn from the innocence when Russians attack Afghanistan & Amir and his dad escape to California leaving behind Hasan & his father . . 15 years later Amir is offered a chance to redeem himself . In a typical story, the protagonist would have a sudden change of heart and correct all his wrong -doings. But this story gradually shows how a person really changes. It is not one moment or one decision that changes a person , but a collection of moments . Khaled has taken his time building up Amir and Hasan’s characters to show the reality of human transformation and realizations. . The story spans across 3 generations and wonderfully captures the innocence of childhood, the arrogance of adolescence , the obligations of adulthood & the maturity and understanding of middle age.
