Lisa Jewell is a genius in the thriller land & The Family Upstairs is simply superb. I do have to warn that there are a lot of triggers and vile content in this book!

SYNOPSIS->
Soon after her twenty-fifth birthday, Libby Jones returns home from work to find the letter she’s been waiting for her entire life. Twenty-five years ago, police were called to 16 Cheyne Walk with reports of a baby crying. When they arrived, they found a healthy ten-month-old happily cooing in her crib in the bedroom. Downstairs in the kitchen lay three dead bodies, all dressed in black, next to a hastily scrawled note. And the four other children reported to live at Cheyne Walk were gone.

First thing I like about this book is the short and easy-to-read chapters. I got through 100 pages within the first 40 minutes & that doesn’t usually happen with me. The next thing I liked is the unreliable narration. All the narrators! Totally unreliable! Don’t trust any of them! The character development is slow & deliberate, gradually building up the suspense too!

The chilling twists thrown in had me grasping for clues -guessing & running in circles till the last. I love a book that does that. Like I mentioned though, beware of triggers and disturbing events in the book.

If you’re looking for a quick, makes- you-lose– your –mind kind of thriller, pick this one up. I can’t wait for Lisa’s next book-Invisible Girl to come out!
